Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
We stock Rotobrush-compatible duct sealing and repair components in San Antonio, and our techs install them in most homes same-visit. You’ll typically pay between $350 and $900 installed, depending on the section of the system that needs sealing and how far into the ductwork we have to reach. Most San Antonio owners discover the failure one of two ways: a musty smell that moves through the house when the AC kicks on, or a drywall patch in the hallway that’s started to leach dust.
Linden Air Duct San Antonio is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Rotobrush. We buy their equipment, we run it daily, and we know which parts fail first because we see them in attics across Bexar County.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Most of what we repair in San Antonio comes from the Rotobrush aiR+ line, though we also see older R500 and R2 workhorses still running in ranch-style homes near Alamo Heights and McCreless. The sealing components we replace most often are the collapsible brush heads, the negative-pressure coupling gaskets, and the access-port foam rings. These aren’t universal parts. A brush head for an aiR+ 4-inch run won’t seat properly on an R500 spindle, and a generic foam ring from a big-box shelf will crumble inside a San Antonio attic within about 9 months because the heat cycles are too aggressive for cheap closed-cell foam.
Check the sticker on the machine’s chassis before you call. It’ll list the model and series. If the label’s worn off, measure the brush head diameter. aiR+ heads run 2.5 to 8 inches. The R500 tops out at 6. We’ve also seen a few R2 units come through with 10-inch commercial heads, but those are rare in residential work. When we quote a replacement part, we ask for the model first and confirm the measurement on-site before any work begins. That two-step check exists because ordering the wrong one costs you a week and costs us a return trip.
OEM vs aftermarket: For Rotobrush brush heads and gaskets, OEM is the safe call. The aftermarket rebuilds fit loose, which kills suction, which means the seal doesn’t pull tight, which means you’ve paid for a job that didn’t do what it was supposed to. We stock OEM and Rotobrush-spec equivalents for the aiR+ line on the truck because that’s the line most San Antonio homes are matched to.

Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- Dust lines at the wall registers. Sealing failure inside the duct lets attic air pull in around the register boot. The dark streak around the vent is attic dust, not settled room dust. We see this most often in homes with blown-in insulation near the boot collars.
- Your electric bill creeps up, same thermostat setting. A duct system losing 15 to 20 percent of its airflow through gaps forces the AC run longer to hit the same temperature. South Texas summer bills show the strain before anything else does.
- One room never gets comfortable. A failed access-port seal on a branch run starves the farthest register. If the room over the garage or the back bedroom lags 5 degrees behind the rest of the house, the problem is usually a leak, not a thermostat.
- You hear a thin whistle near the air handler. A gasket that’s shrunk or split creates a high-pitched bypass leak. It’s quiet enough that you’ll notice it at night when the unit cycles on and the house has settled down.
- Must or old-house smell only when the system runs. Duct sealing failure doesn’t cause the smell; it lets attic air, and everything in it, into the conditioned space. What you’re smelling is whatever the previous owner stored up there.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In San Antonio, you’ll spend $350 to $900 installed for Rotobrush-compatible duct sealing and repair. The bottom of that range is a single access-port reseal or a brush head replacement on a short, easy run. The top end is re-gasketing multiple couplings with negative-pressure extraction involved, usually on older systems where the original foam seals have fully degraded.
Every job includes the part, the labor, removal of the failed component, and a negative-pressure test to confirm the seal holds before we pack up. The price is written down before work starts, per our standing policy, and the repair is covered in writing for 365 days. If a covered repair fails inside that year, we come back at no charge. That’s not a promotional offer. It’s how every air duct repair job leaves our shop.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the access ports yourself. Look for cracked foam rings or metal collars that have pulled away from the plenum. You can also check vents for the dust-line pattern described above. What you shouldn’t do is climb into a San Antonio attic in July to re-seat a negative-pressure coupling. Attics here hit 130 degrees plus by 1 p.m., and that’s before you factor in maneuvering around trusses while handling flex duct. Heat exhaustion and a botched seal are the most likely outcomes, in that order.
There’s also the matter of achieving a proper seal. If the gasket doesn’t seat square, the leak moves instead of closing, and now you’ve paid for a part you installed wrong. If the seal is on a main trunk line, and it’s behind strapping or insulation, call us. (430) 233-7681. Tell me what you’re seeing, and I’ll tell you whether it’s worth fixing.
FAQs
Properly installed OEM sealing components typically last 8 to 12 years in San Antonio homes. The heat and humidity cycles here shorten that compared to cooler markets. Foam rings are the first to go, usually starting around year 7 or 8. Call (430) 233-7681 for an inspection if your system’s past that mark.
It depends on what failed. A small access-port leak can sometimes be reseated with new foam and collar reinforcement. A split brush head coupling or a collapsed gasket needs full replacement. Repairing a hard part that’s already structurally failed buys you a few months, not a fix. We’ll tell you which one you’ve got before we recommend anything.
Most Rotobrush duct sealing and repair jobs take 1 to 3 hours on-site. Single access-port reseals run under an hour. Multi-point re-gasketing with extraction equipment takes longer. You’ll get the time window when we confirm the appointment.
We stock Rotobrush and Rotobrush-spec sealing components for the aiR+ line on our trucks, along with parts commonly needed for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems. If your unit needs something we don’t have on hand, we order it and schedule the install the week it arrives.
